Goalie Equipment Loan and Repair Policy

Goalie Equipment Loan Policy

Our goal is to provide Leg Pads, Gloves and Chest Protectors for all goalies in the Club to help with the financial burden on individual members.

Masks, Skates, Sticks, Breezers and Equipment Bags are considered incidental in any position and will not be provided by the Club. WAHC will allow use of Club equipment by members year round as it is available to aid development in the off season. We have a limited amount of goalie equipment available for use by the Club.  It is distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

The equipment provided will not always be top quality and a perfect fit but will be in good condition. Due to financial constraints the club can not buy new equipment every year.  Club members receive a discount on special order goalie equipment from Strauss Skates & Bicycles.

Loaned Club equipment is to be treated as though it belongs to you and must be air dried after each use. It is a privilege to borrow the Club’s goalie equipment, not a right. This privilege can be revoked if the Club determines the equipment has been mistreated.
Club equipment must be turned in at the end of each season at the time and place designated by the WAHC Goalie Equipment Coordinator. There will be an annual sizing event in the summer to help the Equipment Manager distribute equipment by size needs and manage inventory accordingly.

Goalies moving up an age level will be expected to turn in their equipment and receive different equipment in an age appropriate size.

You may check out equipment from the Club as outlined below:
  • For Squirt/10U players and above contact one of the Goalie Equipment Co-Coordinators
    • Sign the Goalie Equipment Loan Terms and Conditions form.
    • Pay a $150 Deposit by check. Deposit will not be cashed unless equipment is not returned.
  • For Super Mite/U8 players, goalie equipment will be provided to each team.

Goalie Equipment Repair Policy

It is the policy of WAHC to repair any club owned goalie equipment at the cost of the Club. The Club has set up an account with George’s Shoe and Skate Repair, located at 672 ½ Grand Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55105 for all approved repairs.

The responsibility of the member requesting goalie equipment repair will be as follows:

The member will contact the Vice President of Administrative Operations requesting approval of Club owned goalie equipment repairs. The member will be sent a WAHC “Goalie Equipment Repair Form” from the Club for the member to complete.

The member will bring the equipment to the Vice President of Administrative Operations along with the completed WAHC “Goalie Equipment Repair Form”.

If the repair is approved it will be signed by the Vice President of Administrative Operations. WAHC reserves the right to deny repairs based on the overall condition of the equipment needing repair.

The member will bring the club owned goalie equipment and approved form to George’s. The member will pick up the repaired equipment when repairs are complete. The Club will be invoiced from George’s for the repair cost.

New Goalie Questions

What equipment do I need to purchase?  Every goalie is responsible for their skates, helmet, neck protector, breezers, jock/cup, and stick.

Do I need to buy goalie skates?  While you don’t have to, we would recommend purchasing goalie skates.  The blade is significantly different.

Do I need to purchase new goalie breezers?  No, particularly at the Squirt level.  It’s optional.  Your regular breezers will work.

Do I need to buy a new goalie helmet?  No, you can buy a neck guard attachment for the regular helmet.  Eventually you will want to buy one however.  Most do.

Where can I buy new and used gear?  There are a number of places.  We have purchased goalie gear from Strauss in Maplewood.  Strauss offers all WAHC goalies a 15% discount on any special order goalie equipment.  Other places include Play-It-Again Sports in Woodbury and West St. Paul and Cunningham's in West St. Paul. There are several places on-line too, like goaliemonkey.com.

How do I know my size?  Click on the the goalie equipment sizing guide below to find more information about how to properly size your goalie.
