Director of Athletic Development
Please pay close attention to the following guidelines regarding use of the new "Dryland Training Area" ("DTA") upstairs at Harding:
- Players MUST be accompanied by a team coach when utilizing this space - parents may observe in the presence of a coach but are otherwise not authorized to run dryland training
- Players MUST have appropriate attire - athletic shoes, loose clothing, etc. - to participate in dryland training sessions. "Flip-flops", sandals and other unsecured footwear are not permitted.
- The area is for 'athletic training' and warm-ups only. The following items are strickly prohibited from use: sticks, pucks, stickhandling balls and skates. NOTE: Stickhandling and shooting are also PROHIBITED in the 'clear area' downstairs beyond the bleachers.
- Coaches are requested to lock the DTA immediately after completing their workout. The DTA is secured with a combination lock that has a code similar to the combination lock used at Bielenberg for the puck/equipment locker. The combination is simply the first digit of each of the 3 numbers used on the combination lock at Bielenberg. (ie. the combination is in the form of "X - Y - Z", where 'X' is the first digit of the first number at BB, 'Y' is the first digit of the second number....and so on. Turn the combination to the right a few times and stop on 'X', then turn the dial to the left until you pass 'X' and and set on 'Y'; then turn back to the right until you land on 'Z' and open the lock.) If you have any issues please contact the rink attendant for further assistance.
- With no sound barrier, players and coaches are required to keep all noise to a minimum so as not to distract/interupt concurrent, on-ice activities. We all share in this responsibility, so please work hard/fast and 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you'. : )
The following parameters drive scheduling of the DTA:
- "Pre-Game Warm-ups" take precedence over "Post-Practice Workouts". Coaches are required to make half of the DTA space available to opposing teams for pre-game warm-ups prior to all games.
- Teams will be scheduled DTA access 'after' practices and are expected to complete sessions in 60 minutes or less (Recommendation: i) 45 min. max. for PW/12U and older; ii) 30 min. max for Squirt/10U and younger). Coaches are expected to share the space accordingly following '2 team' practices.
- No access will be provided for the 8:50 p.m. ice time on school nights (Sun-Thurs).
- No access will be provided to Squirt/10U and younger teams for the 7:40 p.m. or 8:50 p.m. ice time on school nights (Sun-Thurs), or after "3-on-3" sessions for any scheduled ice time.
- SuperMite teams will be scheduled on weekends only; Mite teams are restricted from using the DTA at any time
NOTE: Teams wishing to 'stretch'/warm-up prior to practice may use the open floor area beyond the bleachers, however, shooting/stickhandling and the use of pucks/stickhandling balls are strictly prohibited in this area.
