Request for Officials

SCHEDULING REFEREES

To schedule referees for a scrimmage where the scrimmage is on our home ice, please use the online Scrimmage (Referee) Request Form on the new District 8 website at www.MinnesotaHockeyD8.com.  From the main menu, click on GENERAL, then REFEREE REQUEST and follow the instructions and link(s) there.

SCRIMMAGE REQUEST FORM:
NEW - All scrimmage requests require a 7 day advance scheduling notice due to COVID-19 and the lower official numbers that we are experiencing.

  • Once you submit the form, you will receive an email (as the submitter) confirming that the Referee Scheduler/Assignor received your request. 
  • NOTE:  The game is NOT scheduled UNTIL the Referee Scheduler/Assignor sends you/team a confirmation email letting you know that he/she has logged the game in and scheduled the officials.

D8 REFEREE RATES

  • Game Officials should be paid prior to the start of the scrimmage.  You can make payment by cash or check.

    NOTE:  Referee Rates for games scheduled at the TRIA Rink in St. Paul, include an additional $15 fee per game / per official to cover the additional travel/parking costs.

District 8 Policy on Use of Officials

13.3  Use of Officials

13.3.1  District 8 officials MUST BE USED for all games and scrimmages between District 8 teams and for all games and scrimmages played on District 8 ice. 

13.3.2  On-Ice Officials – Any District 8 games or scrimmage MUST utilize the District 8 referee schedulers to assign officials. 

Requests for officials for scrimmages must be made 96 hours prior to the start of the scrimmage.NEW effective beginning w/2020-21 season:  ALL scrimmage requests require a 7 day advance scheduling notice especially due to COVID-19 and our lower official numbers that we are experiencing. 

If a scrimmage has been set up with the league scheduler and the scrimmage gets cancelled, the league scheduler must be given a minimum of 24 hours notice or a game fee will be assessed against the team which set up the scrimmage. 

On-ice officials must be paid for scrimmages prior to the start of the scrimmage.

 


OTHER NOTES

Additional Information

  • NOTE - Due to Minnesota Hockey and COVID-19 recommendations, all District 8 league, tournament and scrimmages will be officiated with a 2 person crew. 
  • Referee payment rates include; league, scrimmage and tournament games.
  • Scrimmage and tournament games may be billed at slightly higher rated depending on formats at the discretion of the assigner.
  • Scrimmage and tournament games at location outside of home rink or district depending on distance may incur additional travel fees at the discretion of the assigner.
  • Any in-game resurfacing will be included in the game duration rate. For example your ice rental is for 1.50 hr and teams decide to resurface between 2nd and 3rd period, officials will be paid based on 1.50 hr rate.
